The Central Market has been in operation for over 130 years here, and features over 120 shops and stalls that provide a dazzling array of fresh food stuffs.

The Adelaide Central Market has operated on this site since 1869, when a small group of fruit and vegetable market gardeners decided to break the monopoly of the Adelaide East End Markets, and led a noisy march to the present market site.
The official opening of the Central Market , was the 22 nd of January 1870.

There is such an extensive variety of fresh foods being sold, you virtually don't have to go anywhere else to do your shopping. Small stalls selling a wide variety of "non-edible"

On Friday nights and Saturday mornings musicians often provide live entertainment.

Adelaide Secret:The multicultural International Food Hall at The Adelaide Central Market offers interesting international food styles to suit everyone's palate and budget.

There is also an entrance through "China Town" in Grote Street.

Coles
supermarket is also located adjacent to the Central Market in Grote Street, as well as a well stocked wine, beer and spirits store, there are also second hand magazines & book stalls.

Tuesday 7.00am - 5.30pm
Thursday 11.00am - 5.30pm
Friday 7.00am - 9.00pm
Saturday 7.00am - 3.00pm.
Admission is free and it has toilet facilities, refreshments, and it is readily accessible by Public Transport.

The popular Glenelg Tram arrives and departs from Victoria Square which is a 5 minute walk from the Adelaide Central Market.
