A Kookaburra

The Laughing Kookaburra is the largest member of the kingfisher family in 
Australia.  Its laughing call is used to mark the boundary of the family territory.

They are an inquisitive bird and have a friendly nature toward humans.
 
Food
They eat insects, small reptiles, rats and mice.
 
Breeding
One to four eggs are laid in a hollow tree trunk, or old termite mound,
in late spring.

 
Habitat
Distributed throughout most of the eastern states of Australia in woodlands 
and open forest. They may been seen at Cleland Wildlife Park in South Australia.
